He married, 23 Oct 1863, Columbus, OH, Mary Eliza Doherty, daughter of Col. William and Eliza (McLene) Doherty. She was born 27 May 1833, Columbus, OH, and died 14 Feb 1883, Washington, DC.
Phoenix says the following:
- ". . . grad. at Kenyon College in 1849 . . . . They settled at Washington, D.C.; where he was, in 1872, cashier of the Western Union Telegraph Co., and, in 1874, local superintendent of the same company. He served as captain and assistant-quartermaster of U. S. Volunteers, in the war of 1861."
