Lorenzo D.⁸ Whitney (Asa⁷, John⁶, Nathan⁵, Thomas⁴, Eleazar³, Thomas², John¹), son of Asa⁷ and Ruth (Amidon) Whitney, was born 17 May 1808, Readsboro, VT,^[1] and died 16 Mar 1872, Stamford, Bennington Co., VT.^[2]

He married, 30 Jan 1831, Stamford, Bennington Co., VT, Lucy Caroline Jackson.^[3] She was born circa 1815, VT and died after 1852, probably VT.

i.	Ira J.9 Whitney, b. ca. 1833, VT; poss. res. Friendsville, Wabash Co., IL, in 1870.
ii.	Jane L. Whitney, b. ca. 1836, Readsboro, VT; m. 7 Oct 1863, Greenfield, MA, Flavius J. Rice, b. ca. 1836, Leverett, MA, son of Josiah and Lydia (-----) Rice.[4]
iii.	Harriet D. Whitney, b. 22 Apr 1838, Stamford, VT; d. 5 Jul 1917, North Adams, MA, aged 79 years 2 months 13 days, of inflammation of bowels;[5] m. 12 Apr 1865, Northampton, MA, Billings R. Millard, b. ca. 1833, Stamford, VT, son of Stephen and Harriet (-----) Millard.[6]
iv.	Lucy C. Whitney, b. ca. 1841, VT; m. 17 May 1868, Pownal, VT, William E. Conradt, son of Elizabeth Conradt.[7]
v.	Emily F. Whitney, b. ca. 5 Apr 1846, Stamford, VT; d. 25 Jul 1871, Adams, MA, aged 25 years 3 months 20 days, of heart disease; unmarried.[8] Nevertheless, she is recorded as having married, 31 Aug 1869, Whitingham, VT, Henry Horton, son of Asahel Horton & Morrilla.[9]
vi.	Monroe Lorenzo Whitney, b. ca. 1848, VT; m. Ella L. Potter.
vii.	George W. Whitney, b. ca. 1851; d. 9 Dec 1859, Readsboro, VT.
