Mindrus Hemrod8 Whitney (Ethiel7, James6, Samuel5, Samuel4, Nathaniel3, John2, John1), son of Ethiel7 and Elizabeth (Leonard) Whitney, was born 1 Jan 1824, Covert, NY, and died 1 Feb 1882. He was buried in Elmwood Cemetery, Cedar Springs, MI.[1]

He married, 10 Nov 1845, Cannon, MI, Harriett Adeline Watson, dau. of Isaac and Olive (Hawkins) Watson. She was born 7 Dec 1825 or 7 Dec 1823, Hartford, CT, and died 12 May 1903. She was buried in Elmwood Cemetery, Cedar Springs, MI.[2]

He is a farmer; was first lieutenant, Company I, 14th Michigan Volunteers Infantry; resigned in 1864, after three years' service; resided Nelson, MI.

Phoenix says the following:

"Mindrus Hemrod Whitney, b. in Covert, N. Y., 1 Jan. 1824; a farmer; married in Cannon, Mich., 10 Nov. 1845, by H. B. McKee, Esq., to Harriet Adeline Watson, whose father then lived at Grand Rapids, Mich. She was born at Hartford, Conn., 7 Dec. 1825, dau. of Isaac and Olive Watson. They settled in the town of Nelson, Mich., and were living there in 1874. He was First Lieut. of Co. I, 14th Reg., Mich. Vol. Infantry, and resigned 29 Dec. 1864, after three years or service."

iii. Clara Whitney, b. 15 May 1858, Cannon, MI; d. 17 Nov 1918; "Clara Whiting" m. 22 Feb 1877, Montcalm Co., MI, James Cavner; res. Nelson, MI.
