Family:Whitney, Moses (c1777-1834)
Moses6 Whitney (Daniel5, Daniel4, Henry3, John2, Henry1), son of Daniel5 and Martha (Burt) Whitney, was born about 1777, Warwick, NY, and died 1834, White Water, IN. The fact that he was not mentioned in his fathers will dated 25 Apr 1780 suggests a birth date after that.
He married, about 1800-1803, Big Flats, NY, Phebe Schoonover, daughter of Benjamin Schoonover. She was born about 1785, NY, and died after 1850.
Phoenix says the following:
- ". . . a farmer; married about 1800 to 1803, in her father's house at Big Flats, N. Y., Phebe Schoonover, dau. of Benjamin Schoonover. They moved to Indiana, about 1814 or 1815; and he died at White Water, Ind., in 1834. He was a member of the Baptist Church."
Was "a native of Tioga county, New York"; had 14 children.[1]
Listed in the 1822 Highland Twp Franklin Co IN and 1837 (died 1834 so must have been a son) Twp 8, Range 2 Franklin Co., IN. Other Whitneys later listed are:

Moses Whitney was made guardian of Joseph Schoonover, Jacob Schoonover,and George Schoonover, children of Jeremiah Schoonover Decd 29 Sep 1829. Also made guardian of Jane Schoonover child of Benjamin Schoonover 9 Jan 1827.[3]
