He enlisted in Apr 1861, at Belleville, in Ellisburgh, NY, in Company K, 24th Regiment, New York State Volunteer Infantry; took part in both battles of Fredericksburgh, and the battles of South Mountain and Antietam; and was discharged at Elmira, NY, in Jun 1863.
