Rev. Nelson7 Whitney (John6, Asa5, Nathan4, Nathaniel3, Benjamin2, John1), son of John6 and Hannah (Rich) Whitney, was born 22 Jan 1811, Thorndike, ME, and died 1 Jul 1887, Indianola, IA.

He "of Poughkeepsie, N.Y." married, 17 May 1840, Lowell, MA, Dorothy Dwelley "of Lowell",[1] daughter of William and Susan (Richardson) Dwelley. She was born about 1816, ME, and died 20 Dec 1876, Eastport, ME.

He resided Newport and Stillwater, ME. He was a clergyman serving in Calais, ME, in 1856 and 1857; Unity, ME, in 1866-1868; and Sebec, ME, in 1871.
