Oliver Spaulding⁹ Whitney (Levi B.⁸, Moses⁷, Moses⁶, Ephraim⁵, Moses⁴, Moses³, Richard², John¹), son of Levi B.⁸ and Abigail R. (Wilkins) Whitney, was born 29 Sep 1839, Harrison or Waterford, ME, and died 19 Mar 1897, Biddeford, ME. He was buried in Woodlawn Cemetery, Biddeford, ME.^[1]

He married firstly, 11 Oct 1868, Biddeford, ME, Elizabeth M. (Keaton) Whitney. She was born about 1832, and died 13 Jul 1891, Biddeford or North Kennebunkport, ME. She had married firstly, 20 Aug 1859, York Co., ME, Oliver Gillmore⁹ Whitney, his older brother.

He, of Biddeford, ME, married secondly, 29 Nov 1893, Dover, NH, Marcia L. (-----) McDonald, of Boston, MA.^[2] She was born about 1849, Brooklyn, NY.

On 21 Oct 1861 he enlisted as Private, Co. F, 3rd California Infantry. Promoted to Full Musician. Mustered out on 19 Mar 1862 at Benicia, CA. On 2 Sep 1864, he re-enlisted as Private, Co. C, 2nd California Infantry, and served until 7 May 1866.
