Family:Whitney, Orrin (1834-1864)

Orrin Whitney (Jeremiah C., Phinehas, (poss.) John⁵, (poss.) Samuel⁴, John³, Benjamin², John¹), son of Jeremiah C. and Lydia (Mason) Whitney, was born May 1834, ME, and died 30 Oct 1864, Presque Isle, ME. He is buried in the Fairmount Cemetery in Presque Isle, ME. He is buried in Fairmount Cemetery, Presque Isle, ME.

He married, 9 May 1857, Fort Fairfield, ME, Hannah E. Goss "both of Presque Isle", daughter of John T. and Mary (-----) Goss. She was born about 1835-1837, NB, and died after 1864.

His grave marker is inscribed: "Sergt. Orren Whitney, a member of Co. C, 45th Regt., Maine Vols., died of disease contracted in the service of his country Oct. 30, 1864, aged 30 years and 5 months. Son of Jeremiah and Lydia."

He had no surviving children at his death.
