Roderick B.9 Whitney (Solomon8, David7, Silas6, David5, Benjamin4, Thomas3, Thomas2, John1), son of Solomon8 and Besheba (Clow) Whitney, was born 28 Sep 1825, Canada, and died after 1880.

He married Cleora Shelters, daughter of Phillip and Hannah (Carman) Shelters. She was born about 1826, VT, and died after 1880.

He resided Highgate Center, VT; left a son Phillip, whose widow resided Highgate Center.

i. Emery J.10 Whitney, b. ca. 1849, Highgate, VT; m. Caroline Maria Hutchins.
ii. Edna L. Whitney, b. ca. 1851, VT.
iii. Philip R. Whitney, b. ca. 1854, or Oct 1852, Highgate, VT; m. Elizabeth Ann (Bayer) Sanderson.
iv. Sarah Minerva Whitney, b. ca. 1856, Highgate, VT; d. 13 Jun 1878, Westford, MA, aged 22 years, of uraemia;[1] m. 28 Oct 1876, Highgate, VT, also 31 Oct 1876, Westford, MA, George Waldo Cummings, as first wife, son of John W. and Mary A. (-----) Cummings.[2]
v. Dora A. Whitney, b. 4 Jan 1860, Sheldon, VT;[3] d. 17 Nov 1888, Westford, MA. aged 28 years 10 months 13 days, of chronic nephritis;[4] m. 11 Oct 1880, Highgate, VT (also recorded at Lowell, MA), George Waldo Cummings, as second wife, son of John W. and Mary A. (-----) Cummings.[5]
