Salmon7 Whitney (Salmon6, Jonas5, Jonas4, Moses3, Richard2, John1), son of Salmon6 and Hepsabeth (Raymond) Whitney, was born 31 Jan 1788, Harvard, MA,[1] and died 17 May 1882, Boston, MA, aged 94 years 3 months 17 days, of old age.[2]

He married firstly, 8 Aug 1811, Boston, MA, Eliza Sumner, daughter of Davis and Lydia (Sewall) Sumner. She was born 13 Dec 1788, Bath, ME, and died 23 Oct 1824, Boston, MA, aged 36 years.

He married secondly, 29 Dec 1829, Alsa P. Pond, daughter of Nathan and Deborah N. (Houghton) Pond. She was born 19 Feb 1803, Keene, NH, and died 7 June 1871, Boston, MA, aged 70 years 3 months, of partial paralysis 26 yrs. paralysis of lungs.[3]

He was born in Harvard, MA, worked on the farm, and attended school winters as opportunity presented. He moved to Boston when but twenty-one years of age, and for half a century kept a salt fish store on Long Wharf. He resided Boston, MA.

Children of Salmon7 and Eliza (Sumner) Whitney:

i. George H.8 Whitney, b. ca. 1812; m. before 1857, Hannah -----; physician, resided Fayette Co., KY. His son George H. Whitney, Jr., b. ca. 1858, was an alumnus of Washington and Lee College, Lexington, VA, 1877-1878.
ii. Alfred A. Whitney, b. ca. 1813; m. ca. 1836, Elizabeth H. Leeds.
iii. Norman Whitney, b. ca. 1818, Boston, MA; d. 10 Feb 1896, Philadelphia, PA, aged 77 years, of cancer; m. Apr 1861, and again on 30 Nov 1868, New Orleans, LA, Margaret (Fagan) Smith, daughter of Peter and Joanna (Smith) Fagan, b. 17 Mar 1834, County Meath, Ireland, d. 4 Jan 1929, Orange, NJ. They lived in New Orleans, LA, Dog Fennel, KY, and Philadelphia, PA. They apparently had no children. He was a veteran of the Mexican War, and his widow applied for a pension based on his service.
iv. Davis S. Whitney, b. 2 Oct 1824; m. Mrs. Sarah T. Belcher.

"H. M." was Hannah widow of Norman's brother George H., and George H. [Jr.] was their son.
