Samuel Whitney, parentage unknown, was born say 1757, died about 1804, Sunderland, MA.[1]
He married, 28 Sep 1780, Needham, MA, Asenath Baker,[2] daughter of Noah and Sarah (Burt) Baker. She was baptized 27 Jan 1760, Sunderland, MA.[3] It was probably she who died 7 Dec 1840, Conway, MA, and was buried in Howland Cemetery, Conway, MA.

i. Otis Whitney, b. say 1781, said at Sunderland, MA. ii. Chester Whitney, b. say 1783, said at Sunderland, MA. iii. (prob.) Asenath Whitney, b. ca. 1785, Sunderland, MA; d. 6 Jul 1866, Conway, MA, aged 81 years, of consumption;[5] m. 30 Jul 1809, Conway, MA, William Bacon,[6] b. 11 Dec 1784, Conway, MA, son of Nathan and Lydia (Warren) Bacon. In her death record, she is said to have been born in Sunderland, mother's name Asenath Whitney, hence her placement in this family. Both were buried in North Shirkshire Cemetery, Conway, MA. iv. Benjamin Whitney, b. ca. 1787, said at Sunderland, MA; Oliver Root was appointed guardian 1 May 1804;[7] d. 29 Jan 1810, Conway, MA, aged 22 years, of typhus fever;[8] bur. Howland Cemetery, Conway, MA.
