Family:Whitney, Sarah (1759-1821)
Sarah5 Whitney (Henry4, Henry3, John2, Henry1), daughter of Henry5 and Elizabeth (Lobdell) Whitney, was born 23 Jul 1759, Ridgefield, CT,[1] and died 23 May 1821, Ridgefield, CT.
She married, 21 or 22 Dec 1783, Ridgefield, CT, Matthew Olmstead,[2] son of Stephen and Hannah (Northrop) Olmstead, her second cousin by descent from the Olmstead family. He was born 7 Mar 1760, Ridgefield, CT, and died 16 Feb 1847, Ridgefield, CT.
Phoenix says the following:
- "... a farmer and wall-builder .... They settled at Ridgefield, and there died ..., and were buried in Titicus Cemetery. He was a soldier in several campaigns during the Revolutionary War, having entered the service when sixteen years old. He was in the army which was driven out of New York by the British, and was on guard at the execution of Major Andre'.

Philip Olmstead, b. 11 Jul 1794 (twin), Ridgefield, CT; d. 24 Jul 1794, Ridgefield, CT. vi. Stephen Olmstead, b. 11 Jul 1794 (twin), Ridgefield, CT; m. Clara Sherwood. vii. Jeremiah Olmstead, b. 13 Sep 1796, Ridgefield, CT; d. 29 Oct 1868, Ridgefield, CT, aged 72 years; m. 23 Jun 1821, South Salem, NY, Clarissa Mead, dau. of James and Sarah (Sherwood) Mead. She was born 10 May 1802, Redding, CT, and died 23 Oct 1868, Ridgefield, CT, aged 66 years. They settled in Ridgefield, and there died, without children, and were buried in Titicus Cemetery. viii. David Whitney Olmstead, b. 3 Dec 1800, Ridgefield, CT; m. Emily Grumman.
