Simon5 Whitney (Jonathan4, Richard3, Richard2, John1), son of Jonathan4 and Alice (Willard) Whitney,[1] was born 20 Mar 1719/20, Stow, MA,[2] and died 26 May 1778, Harvard, MA.[3]

Marriage intentions were published 9 Jun 1744, Stow, MA, for him "of Harvard" and Olive Wetherbe.[4] Marriage intentions were published 10 Jun 1744, Harvard, MA, for him and Olive Wetherbe "of Stow".[5] She was born 14 Jan 1724, Stow, MA,[6] and died 8 Aug 1767, Harvard, MA, aged 43 years.[7] She was also known as Ollef/Olivea Wetherbe/Witherbee/Wetherbee.

He married secondly, 5 May 1768, Harvard, MA, Patience (Whitcomb) Hazeltine,[8] daughter of James and Hannah (Graves) Whitcomb.[9] She was born 3 Apr 1739, Harvard, MA.[10] She had married firstly, 30 May 1758, Harvard, MA, Nathaniel Hazeltine.[11] Marriage intentions were published 13 Jun 1779, Harvard, MA, for her and her third husband Samuel Meads Jr.,[12] son of Samuel and Dinah (Dakin) Meads, as his second wife. She may be the ----- Meeds, wife of Samuel, who died 21 Aug 1807, Harvard, MA, of dropsy.

He was also known as Capt. Simon Whitney. He Stow VR's says 1719/20. Listed under Whetney rather than Whitney. Simon shown as "of Harvard" in the marriage intent listing in the Stow VR's and the Harvard VR's.

Pierce says the following:[13]

He was a farmer. Was elected to town offices. Was selectman 1767-68. Was a member of the church, and in 1766 was elected deacon, but declined the honor. In 1775 in seating the meeting house he was given the second seat below. Will dated Sept. 3, 1774. Abel WHITCOMB returned receipts of Simon's estate Feb. 12, 1782.
