Stephen6 Whitney (Samuel5, John4, Henry3, John2, Henry1), son of Samuel5 and Mary (St. John) Whitney, was born 14 Aug 1778, NY, and died 13 Oct 1854, Henderson, NY, aged 76 years 2 months.

He married, 3 Mar 1806, Paris, NY, Sally Finney, daughter of Sylvester and Rebecca (Rice) Finney. She was born 1 Jun 1780, CT, and died 26 Sep 1852, Henderson, NY, ages 72 years.

Phoenix says the following:

. . . a farmer . . . . They settled, soon after marriage, in Henderson . . . . They were buried in the Carpenter Cemetery, in Henderson, about a mile north of their dwelling-house.

i. Sabra7 Whitney, b. 13 Aug 1807, Henderson, NY; m. Lyman Tuttle.
ii. Emeline Whitney, b. 26 Apr 1809, Henderson, NY; d. 22 Feb 1815, Henderson, NY; buried in the Carpenter Cemetery, Henderson, NY.
iii. William Whitney, b. 21 Mar 1811, Henderson, NY; d. 27 Aug 1812, Henderson, NY; buried in the Carpenter Cemetery, Henderson, NY.
iv. Nancy Maria Whitney, b. 26 Mar 1812, Henderson, NY; d. 13 Jun 1875, Henderson Harbor, NY; m. 24 Feb 1860, Camden, NY, Capt. John Silliman Warner, by Rev. Mr. Rowley, Presbyterian. He was a master-mariner, who was born in Schaghticoke, N. Y., 1 Aug. 1804, son of William Wilson and Mary (Parish) Warner. From 1817 to 1862, he was engaged in navigating Ontario, and the other great lakes; was master of a vessel from 1825; and of steamers after 1843. He was the first commander of the Vandalia, built at Oswego, N. Y., said to be the first vessel, built for business, with a screw-propeller. They resided, in 1874, at Henderson Harbor, where she died, without children, 13 June 1875. She was buried in Henderson.

vi. George Gale Whitney, b. 23 Oct 1817, Henderson, NY; m. Sally McNitt (Hawkins) Becker.
vii. Harriet Ann Whitney, b. 11 Jan 1820, Henderson, NY; m. Daniel Moore Snow.
viii. Helen Mar Whitney, b. 11 Apr 1823, Henderson, NY; lived at Henderson Harbor, with her sister, Mrs. Nancy Maria (Whitney) Warner, in 1874, unmarried.
