Family:Whitney, Sylvester (1816-1890)

Sylvester⁷ Whitney (Elnathan⁶, Elnathan⁵, Elnathan⁴, Eleazer³, Thomas², John¹), son of Elnathan⁶ and Lydia (Stickney) Whitney, was born 29 Feb 1816,^[1] Goffstown, NH, and died 15 Jan 1890, Chelsea, MA.

He married, 21 Sep 1842, Lowell, MA, Ann M. Palmer "both of Lowell",^[2] daughter of Horace and ----- (Hasford) Palmer. She was born 11 Feb 1821,^[3] Thetford, VT, and died 24 Jun 1904, Chelsea, MA.

He was born in Goffstown, NH, and resided on the farm until eighteen years of age, when his health being poor he traveled, selling goods. At the age of twenty-one he moved to Lowell, MA, where he was a painter. He later moved to Boston, and finally to Chelsea, where he died. He resided Lowell, Boston and Chelsea, MA.

iii.	Clinton M. Whitney, b. 15 Sep 1851, Boston, MA (given name omitted); d. 13 Dec 1855, Boston, MA, aged 4 years.
iii.	Edgar Alonzo Whitney, b. 29 Jun 1853, Boston, MA; d. after 1910; "Edgar Alphonso" m. 23 Apr 1890, Beverly or Chelsea, MA, Sarah Isabel Jane Riddle, b. ca. 1865, Yarmouth, NS, dau. of George W. and Hannah E. (Wyman) Riddle.[5]
