Thomas S.9 Whitney (Zachariah F.8, John7, John6, Zachariah5, John4, Joseph3, John2, John1), son of Zachariah F.8 and Hepsibath (Smith) Whitney, was born 21 Apr 1844, Rindge, NH, or Peru, VT, and died 2 Apr 1906, Leominster, MA, aged 61 years 11 months 11 days, of cancer of throat.[1]

He married firstly, 3 Mar 1869, Fitzwilliam or Rindge, NH, Abbie Sophia Everett,[2] daughter of George Cutting and Frances Maria (Thompson) Everett. She was born 4 Jun 1848, Fitzwilliam, NH, and died 18 May 1889.

He married secondly, 22 Aug 1893, Fitchburg (recorded in Ashburnham), MA, Henrietta "Etta" Lavina (Shumway) Jowders, daughter of Harrison Hinkley and Catherine (Nichols) Shumway.[3] She was born 7 July 1867, Belchertown, MA, and died after 1907. She "of Greenville" had married firstly, 15 Jan 1884, New Ipswich, NH, Arther B. Jowders "of New Ipswich". They must have divorced, because he married secondly, 24 Nov 1890, Cambridge, MA, Margaret Logan. She married thirdly, 30 Oct 1907, Fitchburg, MA, Frank S. Jones, b. ca. 1872, Pittsford, VT, son of William M. and Fannie F. (Hutchings) Jones.[4]

He was in the war of the rebellion and was wounded 6 May 1864; mustered out at the end of three years; resided Rindge, NH, Gardner, MA, and South Lancaster, MA.

i. Harry Blaine Jowders alias Harry Blaine10 Whitney, b. 14 Aug 1884, Greenville, NH; (as Whitney) m. 16 Apr 1908, Fitchburg, MA, Harrie Etta Althea Davison, b. ca. 1887, Fitchburg, MA, dau. of Harry and Mary R. (Starr) Davison.[5] Apparently he changed his surname when his mother married her second husband Thomas S. Whitney. Children:
a. Geneva Josephine11 Whitney, b. 30 Jan 1909, Fitchburg, MA.[6]

Children of Thomas S.9 and Abbie S. (Everett) Whitney:

i. Fannie H.10 Whitney, b. 4 Jun 1870, Jaffrey, NH, or 7 Jun 1870, Rindge, NH;[7] m. 15 Jun 1889, Marlborough, NH, George L. Platts;[8] resided Marlborough, NH. He d. 25 Sep 1892; resided South Lancaster.

Children of Thomas S.9 and Henrietta Lavina (Shumway)(Jowders) Whitney:

ii. Leroy Osborn10 Whitney, b. 25 Jun 1902, Leominster, MA.[9]
