Truman Orson7 Whitney (Erastus6, Samuel5, John4, Henry3, John2, Henry1), son of Erastus6 and Hannah (Jerome) Whitney, was born 11 Mar 1813, Henderson, NY, and died 3 Mar 1876, Henderson, NY, where he was buried.
He married, 12 Mar 1840, near Woodville, Ellisburgh, NY, Martha Wood, daughter of James and Barbara (Ireland) Wood. She was born 6 Aug 1815, Ellisburgh, NY, and died 8 Feb 1898, Woodville, NY.
Phoenix says the following:
- ". . . a farmer . . . . They settled in Henderson, and were still living in the south part of the town in 1874, on a fine farm of nearly four hundred acres. He was supervisor of Henderson in 1863, and deputy-assessor of internal revenue, for the 20th District in the State of New York, from 1863 till 1869."

Byron Murray Whitney, b. 23 Oct 1849; d. 27 Aug 1867, Henderson, NY, and was buried there in Evergreen Cemetery. iv. Truman Jay Whitney, b. 18 Jan 1856; m.(1) Anna -----; m.(2) Mina A. Howard.
