William4 Whitney (Nathaniel3, John2, John1), son of Nathaniel3 and Sarah (Hagar) Whitney, was born 6 May 1683, Watertown, MA,[1] and died 24 Jun 1720, Weston, MA.[2]

He married, 17 May 1706, Watertown, MA, Martha Peirce "both of Watertown",[3] daughter of Joseph and Martha (-----) Peirce. She was born 24 Dec 1681, Watertown, MA, and "wid." died 15 Sep 1759, Weston, MA.[4]

He and Martha Peirce lived circa 1708 at Weston, MA.

His estate was probated 4 Jul 1720, Weston, MA; administration granted to Martha Whitney, relict of William Whitney, and Nathaniel Whitney, Jr., with Nathaniel Whitney, Sr., surety, all of Weston; his inventory taken by Ens. John Warrin, Benoni Garfield, and John Warrin, all of Weston; on 15 Aug 1720 at Weston, MA, his inventory was exhibited; on 21 Jul 1727, Weston, MA, an administration account of Martha Whitney and Nathaniel Whitney was recorded; on 24 Mar 1728 at Weston, MA, an additional administration account was recorded.

ii. Judith Whitney, b. 15 Nov 1708, Watertown, MA;[7] bapt. 21 Jan 1727/8, Weston, MA.[8] On 15 Aug 1720, Weston, MA, Martha Whitney, widow, of Weston, was appointed guardian of the five minor children of William Whitney, her late husband, of Weston, vizt. William, in his 14th year, Judith, in her 12th year, Amity, in her 8th year, Martha, in her 5th year, and Samuel, in his 2nd year, and posted bond with Jacob Peirce, husbandman, of Weston, as surety. She owned the covenant, and became a church member 21 Jan 1727/8 at age 21+ [Weston VR supp., p. 411].[9]
iii. Amity Whitney, b. 6 Oct 1712, Weston, MA;[10] bapt. 21 Jan 1727/8, Weston, MA;[11] m. Lebbeus Graves.
iv. Martha Whitney, b. 4 Apr 1716, Weston, MA;[12] bapt. 29 Dec 1734, Weston, MA;[13] m. Timothy Mossman.
v. Samuel Whitney, b. 23 May 1719, Weston, MA;[14] bapt. 25 Jun 1738, Weston, MA;[15] m. Abigail Fletcher.

Notes

"William Whitney, son of Nathaniel, Sen., b. 1683, married Martha Peirce, May 17, 1706. He was taxed in Weston as early as 1708, and d. there June 24, 1720, leaving five ch., William, Judith, Amity, Martha, and Samuel. The last removed to Westminster, MA."[16]
