William Whitney, parentage unknown, but possibly son of David6 and Hannah (Layman/Lehman) Whitney, was born Mar 1821, Greene Co., NY, and died 13 Mar 1912, Palenville, NY.[1] He was buried in Cairo Cemetery, Cairo, NY.[2]

He married, 13 Oct 1844, Kiskatom Reformed Church, Greene Co., NY, Catherine Rouse,[3] daughter of John H. and Maria (Wolven) Rouse. She was born 26 Jul 1826, Cairo, NY, and died 4 Apr 1913, Palenville, NY.[4] She was buried in Cairo Cemetery, Cairo, NY.[5]
