William Henry⁹ Whitney (Cephas Newhall⁸, Amos Newhall⁷, Peter⁶, Jonas⁵, Jonas⁴, Moses³, Richard², John¹), son of Cephas Newhall⁸ and Cyrena Abigail (Patch) Whitney, was born 2 Jun 1860, Monticello, MN, died 27 Mar 1931, Cuyahoga, OH.

He married, Jun 1890, Trinidad, CO, Emma Melinda Gwin, daughter of James Kennedy Gwin and Mary Anne Whistler. She was born 28 Jul 1866, John's Town, TN, and died 11 Dec 1930, Willoughby, Lake Co., OH.

In 1930 he was a Life Insurance Salesman.

i.	William Henry10 Whitney, b. 15 Feb 1893, Salt Lake City, UT; d. 21 Jan 1985, Charles Town, WV; m. 10 Jun 1920, Springfield, MO, Lucile Finkel. She was b. 30 Dec 1894, Kidder, MO, and d. 29 Jan 1991, Harper's Ferry, WV. He was a Certified Public Accountant.
ii.	Marguerite Whitney, b. 9 Mar 1895, Brooklyn, NY; d. 2 Jul 1986, Glendale, CA; m. 7 Mar 1916, Cuyahoga, OH, Wesley Edward Northey, son of Wesley Edward Northey and Charlotte Lavina Moorehead. He was b. 12 Jan 1893, Cleveland, OH, and d. 2 Jan 1967, Willoughby, OH.
iii.	Emma Lucile Whitney, b. 18 Oct 1898, Boston, MA;[1] d. 3 Sep 2000, Altadena, CA; m. Paul Victor Eslinger, son of Theodore Eslinger and Flora Strock. He was b. 16 Dec 1893, PA, and d. 25 Nov 1966, Laguna Hills, CA. In 1930 she was a junior high teacher in Denver, CO.
iv.	James Gwin Whitney, b. 2 Feb 1901, Boston, MA;[2] d. 7 Jul 1985, Los Angeles, CA, m. 16 Jun 1934, Cuyahoga, OH, Dorothy Alice Etzensberger, daughter of William Etzensberger and Effie Alice Minthorn. They divorced before 1940. In 1930 he was a sales manager for a refining company.
