William Hopkins⁸ Whitney (George⁷, Silas⁶, Timothy⁵, Jonas⁴, Moses³, Richard², John¹), son of George⁷ and Pamela Fellowes (Fenn) Whitney, was born 14 May 1818, Stockbridge, MA, and died 11 Aug 1863, Pittsburgh, PA.

He married, May 1844, Pittsburgh, PA, Matilda Irwin. She was born 1826, and died after 1880.

He was a journalist. He resided Pittsburgh, PA.
