My Whitney ancestors are from the John & Elinor lineage. (Robert E.Jr., Robert E. Sr., William L., Charles L., Lyman E., Eliphalet, Cornelius, Matthias, Cornelius, Joshua, John)

My grandfather Robert Earl Whitney was born (August 17, 1898) and raised in Mexico, NY. He had one sister Doris Whitney, several years younger.

His father, my great grandfather, was William L. Whitney born September 23, 1873. His wife was Maude (Mowry) Whitney. He was a farmer in Mexico, NY. He had one brother named Glenn Whitney. William died in 1961 or 1962 in Dansville, NY.

Robert Earl Whitney graduated from Springfield College in Springfield, Massachusetts. He married Adeline Shockey, eventually settling in Dansville, NY where he began a prosperous appliance and electronics business with a large factory storefront named "Whitney's." Additionally, he owned a residential rental portfolio of homes. He retired to FL in 1967. He passed away in 1988 at age 89.

Robert Earl Whitney had three children, Robert Earl Jr., Barbara, and Virginia. I am the oldest child of Robert Earl Whitney, Jr. and his first wife Margaret. From his second marriage to Barbara, they had two children, John Whitney and Susan Whitney.

Any info pertaining to this branch of Whitney's would be welcome.
