Welcome!

Jim:

Welcome to the Whitney Research Group website! Thank you for adding in your lineage - I've just linked your Whitney ancestors to the family group pages that we have on them, so you can easily locate them. I notice that you're a direct male Whitney descendant, but with an adoption involved. If you have any doubt as to the Whitneys being his birth parents, you should be able to join our DNA study and easily determine if you are really a Whitney descendant or not. We already know what the results should look like if you are a Whitney.

Thanks again for joining,

Joshua Whitney

Jim:

From what I see on his page, Joshua Whitney "married firstly, 20 Nov 1664, Charlestown, Massachusetts,[4], Mary (-----) Buckminster, parentage and birth unknown, widow of Thomas Buckminster, Jr. She died 17 Mar 1671/2, Watertown, Massachusetts."

Thus, no children were born out of wedlock, as they were married in 1664. It was this first wife's death that was in 1671/2, not their marriage.

Did that answer your question?
