Welcome!

Welcome to the Whitney Research Group! According to this online database, your ancestor Cecil Owen Whitney was born 28 Apr 1915 and died 2 Apr 1970. He was probably the Cecil O. Whitney, b. 1915 in NY, resident of Cumberland, ME, who enlisted 30 Oct 1942. He was listed as divorced with no dependents. The only Cecil O. Whitney, born about 1915 that I find in the 1920 census was the son of Chauncey Whitney and Verna, residing Amsterdam, Montgomery Co., NY. This was probably Chauncey O. Whitney and Verna Hallenbeck, listed on our Whitney Research Group Member Lineages page, along with his ancestry back to the immigrant John Whitney, though I note that Chauncey's great-grandfather Family:Whitney, Moses (s1782-a1830) does not have a son named Ephraim as this WRG member's lineage suggests.
