 He was a successful farmer, but not being a good financier, he became involved and finally sold his farm and together with his second and youngest sons by his now widowed wife, went to the State of Iowa and bought a good farm, which they operated for several years. Not being altogether contented he sold out again and returned to his old town, Burr Oak, where he has resided in retirement most of the time until his recent decease. While he was a man of strong likes and dislikes, he was one of benevolence, sympathy and kindness. He was raised among the Quakers, therefore was inclined to the liberal in thought. His estimable wife and five children survive him.

		+	Died, June 29th, 1890, at his home in Burr Oak, Mr. R.H. Whitney, being confined to his bed nearly one week. A breaking up of conditions long maintained resulting in paralysis, attendant upon old age, was the occasion of his demise.

When he arrived at the years of manhood he went to the Dominion of Canada, where he remained for a year or a little more.
