Samuel7 Whitney (John6 and Statira (Farrell) Whitney, John5, John4, Richard3, John2, Henry1), son of John6 and Statira (Farrell) Whitney, was born 9 Nov 1819, Utica, NY, and died after Jul 1875.

He married, 5 Sep 1845, Twenty-second Street Presbyterian Church, New York, NY, Abigail Sophia Arnold, daughter of Elisha Arnold, of East Hartford, CT.

Phoenix says the following:

"In 1867, he lived in Orange, N.J., and was engaged in the lumber and timber trade, having an office at 41 Pine Street, New York City, and was acting as agent for Canadian and Southern lumbermen, in the sale of ship-knees and spars, and southern pine. He has been an extensive traveller in this country and in Europe. In Jan. 1874, his address was at the Gas Carbonizing Company's office, 200 Broadway, New York; and in July 1875, he resided at 294 Gates Avenue, Brooklyn, N.Y."

i. Emma Louisa8 Whitney, b. ca. 1849, NY.
ii. Willys Arnold Whitney.
