George E.8 Whitney (Smyrna7, Samuel6, Samuel5, William4, Nathaniel3, John2, John1), son of Smyrna7 and Ruth7 (Whitney) Whitney, was born 1 Jun 1831, Westminster, MA,[1] and died after 1889.

He married firstly, 13 Mar 1853, Westminster, MA, Sarah J. Tolman "of Ashburnham", daughter of Calvin and Mary Whitney (Bowers) Tolman.[2] She was born 7 Mar 1830, Troy, NH, and died 29 Mar 1875, Westminster, MA, aged 45 years 22 days, of consumption, housekeeper, residing Keene, NH.[3]

He married secondly, 19 Jan 1876, Lura Lind Nims, daughter of John Taylor Gilman and Charlotte (Stone) Nims. She was born 6 Nov 1850, Keene, NH, and died after 1889.

They resided Keene, NH.

iv. Ellen A. Whitney, b. 3 Aug 1860, Greenfield, MA;[8] d. 9 Sep 1860, Greenfield, MA, aged 1 month 7 days, of infantile debility.[9]
v. Julia Bertha Whitney, b. 12 Sep 1864; d. 11 Dec 1882.

Mary Whitney (Bowers) Tolman was daughter of Joshua and Sarah7 (Whitney) Bowers, and granddaughter of both Joshua and Mary6 (Whitney) Bowers and John6 and Mary (Farnsworth) Whitney. She has three descents from John1 Whitney.
