Dexter O.⁷ Whitney (Elijah⁶, Thomas⁵, Thomas⁴, Eleazer³, Thomas², John¹), son of Elijah⁶ and Mindwell (Hardy) Whitney, was born 17 Sep 1809, Westborough, MA,^[1] and died 8 Nov 1875, Webster, MA, aged 66 years, of cancer.^[2]

He married firstly, 18 Oct 1832, Westborough, MA, Catherine Newton,^[3] daughter of Ephraim and Kate (Russell) Newton. She was born 2 Apr 1809, Marlborough, MA, and died 17 Jun 1860, Webster, MA, aged 51 years 2 months 15 days, of consumption.^[4]

He married secondly, 25 Mar 1861, Westborough, MA, Lavina (Harrington) Kanuse, daughter of William and Hannah (Fisher) Harrington.^[5] She was baptized 5 Jul 1818, Marlborough, MA, and died after 1875. She had married firstly, before 1849, John H. Kanuse, of Chicopee, MA.

He resided Westborough, Massachusetts.
