He married firstly, 14 Sep 1848, Lawrenceville, NY, Irena L. Shepard, daughter of Heman and Loret (Rockwell) Shepard. She was born about 1827, and died 16 Oct 1857 in NY.
She left a husband and three children, the youngest only a few months old.
