Charles7 Whitney (Henry6, John5, Abraham4, Joseph3, John2, Henry1), son of Henry6, was born 23 Sep 1812, Wilton, CT, and died 23 Sep 1900, Fairfield, OH, aged 88 years.[1] He was buried in Woodlawn Cemetery, Norwalk, OH.[2]
He married, 18 Nov 1840, East Townsend, OH, Roxana Malvina Palmer, daughter of Lory and Elizabeth (Mott) Palmer. She was born 12 Nov 1816, Oriskany, NY, and died 1906, Norwalk, OH. She was buried in Woodlawn Cemetery, Norwalk, OH.[3]
Phoenix says the following:
- ". . . a black-smith and farmer . . . . He left his father's house in 1831; lived in Milan, Ohio, for about eight years; and then moved to East Townsend, Ohio, where they were living in 1873, having been members of the Baptist Church for a third of a century."

i. Palmer8 Whitney, b. 20 Oct 1841; d. 17 Apr 1862, Evansville, IN, where he was buried in Oak Hill Cemetery. He enlisted in May 1861, for three years, in Company A, 29th Regiment, Ohio Volunteer Infantry; left Norwalk, OH, 6 Jun 1861, for Camp Chase, near Columbus, OH; and in August, went with his regiment to Cheat Mountain, VA, where they were encamped till November. They were then removed to Kentucky, remaining for a time at Camps Wickliffe and Jenkins; and joined the army of Grant, in time to take part in the battle of Pittsburgh Landing, where his right arm was shot away near the shoulder, 7 Apr 1862. After amputation, he was sent, by steamer, to Evansville, IN, where he died. ii. Ann Whitney, b. 27 Nov 1843; d. 21 Sep 1845, East Townsend, OH, and was buried in Norwalk Township, OH. iii. Calvin Whitney, b. 25 Sep 1846; m.(1) Marian Dean; m.(2) iv. John Lory Whitney, b. 12 Nov 1848; m. Clara Bell Borden. v. Richard Burt Whitney, b. 7 Nov 1853; d. after 1900; a dealer in lumber; m. ca. 1880, Mariam B. -----, b. Mar 1852, IN, d. after 1900; was living at Worthington, IN, in 1873, and Indianapolis, IN, in 1900. vi. Idalia Louisa Whitney, b. 5 May 1856; d. after 1900; m. ca. 1886, Dr. Ephraim Smedley; was living in the family of her brother Calvin, in Norwalk, OH, attending the High School, in 1873; resided Fairfield, Huron Co., OH, in 1900.
