Clark F. Whitney, parentage unknown, was born about 1807, VT, and died 5 Oct 1862, Albion, NY. He was buried in Albion Cemetery, Albion, NY.^[1]

Intentions of marriage were published, 31 Jan 1830, Attleborough, MA, for him and Emeline Bates,^[2] daughter of John and Polly (-----) Bates. She was born 8 Feb 1808, Norton, MA,^[3] and died 13 Nov 1888, Providence, RI, aged 79 years.^[4] Possibly she was the Emiline Bates, daughter of James and Hannah (Walker) Bates, born 16 Aug 1812, Pembroke, MA (since she named her oldest son James).

iii.	Abigail H. Whitney, b. ca. 1837, Steuben Co., NY; m. Hiram J. Buck.
iv.	Charles H. Whitney, b. ca. 1840, Clarkson, NY.
v.	Harriet Whitney, b. ca. 1842, Clarkson, NY. She may be the Harriet Whitney who was born in Rochester, NY, and, by Charles Haywood, had illegitimate son: i. Frank Whitney, b. 27 Jan 1874, Bridgewater, MA.[6]
vi.	George W. Whitney, b. ca. 1844, Brockport, NY; m. 5 Nov 1888, Boston, MA, Julia E. S. Rice, b. ca. 1848, Lowell, MA, dau. of Moses and Laura C. (-----) Rice.[7]
vii.	Josephine A. Whitney, b. ca. 1848, Brockport or New York, NY; "Jodie A." m. 24 Nov 1868, Attleborough, MA, or Mansfield, MA, Edgar Wilson Guild, b. ca. 1847, Attleborough, MA, son of Allen D. and Abby F. (Tabor) Guild.[8].

It seems probable that Clark Whitney above was the same as Freeman Clark⁷ Whitney, b. 16 Mar 1806, Ludlow, VT, son of James⁶ and Abigail (-----) Whitney.
