Henry Martyn7 Whitney (Samuel6, John5, John4, Richard3, John2, Henry1), son of Samuel6 and Mercy (Partridge) Whitney, was born 5 Jun 1824, Waimea, Kauai, Sandwich Islands, and died 17 Aug 1904, Honolulu, HI.

He married, 25 or 27 Jun 1849, Portsmouth, NH, Catharine Olivia March.[1] She was born 20 Oct 1822, Portsmouth, NH, and died 12 Feb 1896, Honolulu, HI.

He was a journalist and postmaster.

Children of Henry Martyn7 and Catharine Olivia (March) Whitney:

i. Henry Ely8 Whitney, b. 30 Jun 1850, HI;[2] d. 17 Jul 1883.
ii. Helen Brown Whitney, b. 1 May 1852; d. 17 Apr 1896, or 3 Apr 1910; m. Luke Chase Kelley.
iii. Henry Martin Whitney, b. 26 Mar 1856.
iv. James Newall Whitney, b. 22 Oct 1858, Honolulu, HI; d. 17 Apr 1861, Cambridge, MA, aged 2 years 5 months 26 days.[3]
