Family:Whitney, Justin (1801-1862)

Justin⁷ Whitney (Salmon⁶, Jonas⁵, Jonas⁴, Moses³, Richard², John¹), son of Salmon⁶ and Hepzibah (Raymond) Whitney, was born 24 Jul 1801, Harvard, MA,^[1] and died 7 Aug 1862, Leominster, MA.

Marriage intentions were published 20 Oct 1827, Harvard, MA, for him and Mary Colton "of Boxborough".^[2] He married, 7 Nov 1827, Boxborough, MA, Mary Cushing Cotton^[3]. She was born 15 Sep 1806, and died 25 May 1891.

He was born in Harvard where he resided nearly all his life, was a farmer and lived on the farm, which tradition says, was originally purchased of the Indians. He resided Harvard and Leominster, MA.

iii.	Salmon Whitney, b. 24 Mar 1833, Harvard, MA;[7] d. 26 Jul 1864, Leominster, MA; unmarried. He studied law in Lowell and at Harvard Law School; was admitted to the bar in 1860 and opened an office at Groton Junction, now Ayer. He served in the Sixth and Fifty-third Massachusetts Infantry. He enlisted 22 Apr 1861, and was discharged for disability 6 Jun 1863.
iv.	Harriet I. Whitney, b. 6 Jan 1837, Harvard, MA;[8] m. 18 Feb 1866, Marshall P. Frost, resided 183 Lincoln St., Worcester. Ch.: Daughter, b. 12 Dec 1867; d. 29 Nov 1874.
v.	George Henry Whitney, b. 18 Jul 1839, Harvard, MA;[9] m. Sarah C. Gould.
vi.	Sarah Maria Whitney, b. 6 Jan 1841;[10] m. 17 Oct 1860, Thomas Bennett, resided 14 Elliott St., Worcester. He was b. 14 Aug 1836; d. 20 Jun 1890. He was boatswain in the U. S. Navy. Ch.: Hattie Maria, b. 1 Sep 1861; m. 19 Oct 1886; present address (Mrs. Henry L. Adams, Wilmington, VT; Minnie Frances, b. 28 Dec 1862; m. 17 Oct 1882; address, Mrs. Minnie F. Bagley, widow, 14 Elliot St., Worcester, MA; George S.
