Family:Whitney, Nelson (1812-1887)

Nelson⁷ Whitney (John⁶, Asa⁵, Nathan⁴, Nathaniel³, Benjamin², John¹), son of John⁶ and Hannah (Rich) Whitney, was born 1812, Thorndike, ME.

He "of Poughkeepsie, N.Y." married, 17 May 1840, Lowell, MA, Dorothy Dwelley "of Lowell".^[1]

He resided Newport and Stillwater, Maine.

Children of Nelson⁷ and Dorothy (Dwelley) Whitney:

i.	John Howard8 Whitney, b. 3 Jun 1842, Newport, ME; m. Mary E. (Babb) Tarleton.
ii.	William Butler Whitney, b. 2 May 1857, Calais, ME; d. Beaver City, NE, 5 Jul 1940; m. 31 Aug 1887, Arapahoe, NE, Samantha Belle Prime (1859-1954). Ch.: Ada Claire Dwelley9 Whitney b. 28 Aug 1888; Helen Prime Whitney, b. 20 Mar 1891.
