Joshua Smith8 Whitney (Charles Fitch7, Thomas6, Benjamin5, Joseph4, Joseph3, Jonathan2, John1), son of Charles Fitch7 and Louisa (Kemp) Whitney, was born Oct 1842, and died 4 Feb 1881, VT, aged 39 years.

He married, 3 Jan 1870, Johnson, VT, Cornelia Ann Shattuck, daughter of Jeremiah and Sarah S. (Call) Shattuck.[1] She was born 27 Sep 1849, Belvidere, VT, and died after 1880. She married secondly, 5 Oct 1884, Colebrook, NH (also recorded at Worcester, MA), Julius K. Robbins, b. ca. 1863, Johnson, VT, son of Simeon I. and Celana M. (-----) Robbins.[2]
