Jacob, son of Ezra
Hello, and welcome to the WRG website.
I am descended from Ezra Whitney and his son Jacob Whitney would have been an uncle (with many greats in front of that). I don't think that this is the correct lineage for you. You can see his family at Family:Whitney, Jacob (1796-a1870). Notice that he did not marry Polly Watts, and he did not have a son named Timothy.
The other branch may be found at Family:Whitney, Richard (1743-1816).

Jerry:
Did your Timothy Whitney move to Hillsborough, NH by 1850 and have a wife Frances H.? If so, there is another Whitney family next door to them, with the head of that family being Samuel Whitney, b. ca. 1817, MA. This Samuel, if he was an elder brother of your Timothy, could be the clue to determining their parents.

Nashua, NH
Interesting that they lived next door to each other in 1850, but it turns out that Timothy Watts Whitney and Samuel Whitney were related only by way of John and Elinor, seven generations earlier.
