John6 Whitney (Nathan5, David4, Benjamin3, John2, John1), born 13 Oct 1769; married in Westminster in 1790, Elizabeth Stearns, born 1 Aug 1770. She married 2d James Walker, who died s. p. the next year; she married 3d Luke Warren and had Mary and Aaron. She died 30 Oct 1838.
John Whitney was born in Waltham, Massachusetts, and moved with his parents when young to Westminster. He followed agricultural pursuits, was a stanch Christian, good citizen, strong temperance advocate and bitterly opposed to slavery. He was never in public life, but made many friends by his integrity and Christian virtues. He died 25 Jun 1802; resided Westminster, Massachusetts.

Betsey Whitney, born 3 May 1799; married 30 Apr 1829, Thomas Merriam, born 23 Jul 1801; died 24 Sep 1877; resided Westminster. - Ch.: Mary E., born 4 Jun 1830; Sarah M., born 7 Jun 1835; John F., born Aug. 23, 1838; all resided W. The mother died 15 Jul 1888.
iv. Linda Whitney, born 3 Mar 1802; married 20 Nov 1823, at Hubbardston, Joseph Raymond, born 15 Mar 1796. She died 23 Mar 1847. - Ch.: Alfred Whitney, born Sept 22, 1824; resided Jewett, N. Mexico; Melinda Elizabeth, born 12 Nov 1826; unm.; Joseph Downe, born Feb. 17, 1828; resided Pleasant St., Worcester, Massachusetts; Reuben Stearns, born 13 May 1830; married an died leaving Edward Lincoln and William Holbook; his wid. married William Dearing, resided Shellville, California; Susan Wood, born 28 Oct 1831; married Heman Lincoln Chase, of Boston, at Hubbardston, Massachusetts, the 18th of Oct., 1854; resided 126 Harvard St., Brookline, Massachusetts. He was son of Rev. Irah Chase, D. D., and Harriet Savage Chase, and was born at Newton, Massachusetts, 22 Sep 1829, and died in Brookline, 11 Feb 1884. Her husband and her deceased son, Henry, were Baptists and all her other children the same. Harriet Savage Chase married Herbert Eveleth Greene, 15 Jul 1886. He graduated from Harvard college and has the degree of Ph. D. Dr. Greene is a prof. in Wells College, Aurora, New York. They have one son, born 14 Jun 1890. Prof. Greene is an orthodox Congregationalist; the child's name is William Chase Greene. Heman Lincoln Chase, Jr., graduated from Harvard, receiving the degree of A. M., in 1882, and afterward the degree of Dr. of Medicine from the Harvard Med. school, then studied abroad, and is now practicing in Brookline, unmarried, and a Republican. Henry Ernest Chase graduated in Harvard in 1883 with the degree of A. M. Susan Raymond Chase was married to Frank Leonard Creesy, 12 Jun 1889. Mr. Creesy graduated from Harvard Coll. in the class of '82 and afterward from the Harvard law school, practicing law in Boston and living in Brookline. Republican. They have one child, Madeline Creesy, born Mar. 26, 1891. Edith Chase is a student at Smith College, Northampton, Massachusetts; Henry Chase, born 12 Jul 1840; resided Council Bluffs, Iowa.
