Solomon6 Whitney (Tarball5, Solomon4, David3, Joshua2, John1), son of Tarball5 and Lois (Lawrence)(Hopkins) Whitney; born Apr 29 1790, Poultney, Vermont; married 4 Jul 1813, Sarah A. Haskins, born Dec 15, 1798; died July 24 1834. He was a farmer. He died Nov 26, 1843; resided Almond, New York, and Van Buren, Indiana.
Children of Solomon6 and Sarah A. (Haskins) Whitney:
i. Ami7 Whitney, born 28 Jul 1815; married Elizabeth Ferguson and Caroline Borders. ii. Temperance Whitney, born Jan 4, 1818; died Aug 6, 1822, from burns caused by her clothing taking fire. iii. Asenath Whitney, born 2 Jun 1820; married Aug 1, 1839, Stephen Ketchum; resided Primrose, Wisconsin. She died Mar 28, 1886. Stephen Ketchum was born Oct 29, 1813; died Aug 24, 1856, from the effect of being kicked in the bowels by a horse, only living about twenty minutes after being injured. This occured at Van Buren, Indiana. Stephen and Asenath had nine ch.: Edwin S., born Sep 28, 1840; Albert, born 25 Jul 1842; died 17 Jul 1846; George, born Oct 16, 1844 died at Madison, Wisconsin, with the measles shortly after enlisting in a Wisconsin volunteer regt. during the Rebellion; Ann Eliza,born Dec 27, 1846; Hubert, born 7 May 1848; Loren L. and Lawrence L., twins, were born Dec 23, 1850; Loren resided Madison, Wisconsin; Ami Whitney, born Aug 13, 1854; died Dec 10, 1878; was murdered at Plumb Creek, Nebraska. iv. Sarah Ann Whitney, born 9 Jul 1823; married Nov 12, 1844, Rev. Caleb H. Blanchard; resided Wolcottville, Indiana. He is a Baptist clergyman, and for fifty years has preached to one congregation-quite an honorary record for a country pastor. He was born Dec 11, 1817, in Rutland County, Vermont. Is s.p. They celebrated their golden wedding Nov 12, 1894. v. Solomon Whitney, born Mar 22, 1827; married Sarah Struble and Mrs. Selena Lomax. vi. Rufus Whitney, born Sept 28, 1829; married Lodema Bartle.
