Fairfield9 Whitney (Edward K.8, Freeman7, Enoch6, Moses5, Nathaniel4, Nathaniel3, Benjamin2, John1), son of Edward K.8 and Arvilla (Caswell) Whitney, was born 20 Feb 1862, Harrison, ME, and died 1944. He was buried in Sleepy Hollow Cemetery, Concord, MA.[1]
He married firstly, int. 11 Jul 1892, cert. 16 Jul 1892, 4 or 5 Aug 1891 or 1898, Alma Maria Brackett of Cumberland, ME.[2] She was born 30 Nov 1857 or 1859, ME, and died after 1900. Alma was buried in the Foreside Community Church Cemetery, Falmouth, ME.

She was born 1876, Bath, ME, and died 1935. At the time of his second marriage, he was a Superintendant of Schools residing in Townsend, MA. She was buried in Sleepy Hollow Cemetery, Concord, MA.[4]
He was a teacher at the Greely Institute in Cumberland, ME. At the time of his second marriage, he was a Superintendant of Schools residing in Townsend, MA.
He prepared for college at Bridgton Academy in 1882, and graduated from Bates College in 1887. He immediately entered the teaching profession and was principal of Greely Institute, Cumberland, ME, for six years. Since then, he has engaged in the superintendence of the public schools in a number of Massachusetts towns. He is now superintendent of the schools in the town of Saugus.
