George Alpheus7 Whitney (John6, John5, Abraham4, Joseph3, John2, Henry1), son of John6 and Ruth (Hutchinson) Whitney, was born 16 Aug 1843, Defiance, OH, and died after Apr 1877.
He married, 4 Jul 1869, Albany, OR, Edith Elizabeth Lloyd, daughter of Robert and Adessa (Richardson) Lloyd. She was born 16 Aug 1853, Mansfield, OH, and died after Apr 1877.
Phoenix says the following:
- ". . . a physician; grad. at Detroit Commercial School in 1863, at Salem Medical College, Oregon, 4 March 1872, and at Bellevue Hospital Medical College, New York City, 21 Feb. 1876; enlisted, 5 Oct. 1864, in Co. K, 182nd Reg., Ohio Vol. Inf., and was mustered out 15 July 1865; went, in 1869, to California, and thence to Oregon; . . . . They dwelt at Toledo, Oregon; afterward at Portland, Oregon, till June 1876; and then settled at Albany, Oregon, and were living there in Ap. 1877."

i. Ella Eveline Whitney, b. 30 March 1872, Albany, OR. ii. Clara Adessa Whitney, b. 17 May 1875, Portland, OR.
