Leonard Clifton7 Whitney (Joseph6, James5, James4, Henry3, John2, Henry1), son of Joseph6 and Hannah (Roberson) Whitney, was born 16 Nov 1812, Southeast, NY, and died 5 Jan 1850, Patterson, NY, where he was buried in the Friends' Cemetery.
He married, 4 Sep 1841, Patterson, NY, Betsey Ann Kinner, daughter of Thomas and Mercy (Nickerson) Kinner. She was born 10 Oct 1819, Patterson, NY, and died after Feb 1875. She married secondly, Reuben Tompkins, and was living in Danbury, CT, in Feb 1875.

i. Frances Melissa8 Whitney, b. 24 Jul 1842; d. 4 Dec 1868, Danbury, CT, where she was buried in Wooster Cemetery; m. 1860, William James Siver. He was living in Danbury in Mar 1875. ii. Hannah Maria Whitney, b. 12 Nov 1844; m. 22 Apr 1864, South Norwalk, CT, John Wesley Ridge, son of James P. and Jane Hall (Treadwell) Ridge, b. 10 Jun 1839, Bethel, CT; a hatter. They settled in Danbury, CT, and were living there in Apr 1875. iii. Sarah Emma Whitney, b. 16 Nov 1846; m. 1 Dec 1862, New York, NY, Julius Beach Judd, son of Willis and Augusta M. (Mallory) Judd, b. 19 Sep 1842, Woodbury, CT; a manufacturer of hats. They settled in Bethel, and were living there in Feb 1875. He was a soldier in the war of 1861. iv. James Sherwood Whitney, b. 24 Nov 1848; m. 6 Oct 1866, Rye, NY, Jenny A. Brown, daughter of James Emery and Jerusha Valentine (Ferris) Brown, 25 Jul 1847, Westport, CT; a hatter. They settled in Norwalk, CT, and were living there in Nov 1875. He served in the war of 1861.
