William Erving9 Whitney (Samuel8, Smyrna7, Samuel6, Samuel5, William4, Nathaniel3, John2, John1), son of Samuel8 and Carolina A. (Puffer) Whitney, was born 9 Aug 1855, North Reading, MA, and died after 1900.

He married, 5 Oct 1878, Boston, MA, Mary E. Fenn, daughter of James and Elizabeth (-----) Fenn. She was born 12 Aug 1858, Essex, CT,[1] and died after 1900.

He was born in North Reading, MA; fitted for college at the Phillips academy, Andover, MA; entered Yale college in 1873, and was graduated in 1877. He at once entered into the wholesale paper business with his brother, under the firm name of Whitney Bros., and is now located at 63 and 65 Essex St., Boston, MA; resided 453 Columbus Ave., Boston, MA; s. p.
