Thomas6 Whitney (Peter5, Josiah4, Josiah3, Jonathan2, John1), born Ashford, Tolland County, Connecticut, 18 Sep 1770; Royalton, Vermont, 19 Sep 1799, Mary Taina Jennings, dau. of Capt. Joseph and Mary, born Windham, Connecticut, 27 Apr 1777; died May 12, 1862.

He was born in Tolland, Connecticut, and in 1790 moved to Tunbridge, Vermont. Along in the thirties with his family he moved to Ohio and for a number of years lived near Danville, Knox County. Later they lived with their son John J. Whitney, who owned the first farm of two hundred acres east of Londonville, on the Wooster and Ashland roads. In 1856 after the sad death of their son, they went to live with their daughter Emily, Mrs. Robert Mchahan, in Londonville. Mrs. Whitney died there at the age of 83 years, and Mr. Whitney died at the home of his son Dr. B. F. Whitney, at Mansfield, at the advanced age of 96 years, and both are buried in the Londonville cemetery. They were considered very good old people, were members and founders of the Londonville Baptist church. He died 6 Aug 1863; resided Tunbridge, Vermont, Randolph, Vermont, Mansfield, Ohio.

i. Wait7 Whitney, born 29 Oct 1800; married Barbara Burkholder.
ii. Eli Whitney, born 9 Aug 1802. He was a lawyer, died unm. at West Hartford, Vermont, Dex. 30, 1826.
iii. Daniel Whitney, born 8 Jul 1804; died unm. at New Hampshire,20 Dec 1829.
iv. Eben Jennings Whitney, born 6 Dec 1806; married Sarah Boardman.
v. John J. Whitney, born 8 Nov 1813; married Matilda Robeson.
vi. Benjamin F. Whitney, born 27 Feb 1815; married Sarah Renfrew.
vii. Emily Whitney, born 5 Feb 1810; married 23 Feb 1839, Robert Mcmahan; resided Portage, Ohio. He was a merchant.
Ch.: Whitney; resided Bowling Green, Ohio.
viii. Marcy Maria Whitney, born 6 May 1812; married at Danville, Ohio, Sept, 6, 1860. Joseph Sapp, a merchant, who was born in Jefferson County, Ohio, and died in O.; married 2d at Mansfield, Ohio, 29 May 1863. Elijah Bemis who was born in Massachusetts, but who died in Lyne, Ohio. She resided s. p. at Bowling Green, Ohio.
