Isaiah5 Whitney (Isaiah4, Isaiah3, Thomas2, John1), son of Isaiah4 and Elizabeth5 (Whitney) Whitney; born Nov. 28, 1735, Harvard, Massachusetts; died 23 Feb 1817, Harvard, Massachusetts.

He married (intentions 27 Sep 1756, Stow, Massachusetts), Persis Randall, born 1746, died 5 Jul 1812.

He resided on the farm which his father purchased in 1722, before the town was incorporated. There were in Harvard two others by the same name as his: one was called "one thumb Zaiah," because he had but one thumb, and the other "Pond Zaiah," because he lived near Bare Hill pond. He was in the Revolutionary army, in the company from Harvard, commanded by Capt. Davis. On the rolls in the State House at Boston he is reported dead. His gravestone gives his age as 83. His will having been probated 19 May 1818, mentions son Jonah; gives to two grandchildren, Lois Turner, wife of James, and Amos Whitney, children of my said son Jonah, sons Isaiah and Cyrus, dau. Dorcas, wife Ezra Barker. Cyrus Whitney, exec. 19 May 1818. He resided Harvard and Stow, Massachusetts.

Children of Isaiah5 and Persis (Randall) Whitney:

i. Jonah6 Whitney, born 19 Jun 1758; married Lois Hill and Jane Stone.
ii. Dorcas Whitney, born 20 Apr 1760; married 18 Jun 1784, Ezra Barker, of Stoddard, New Hampshire; they resided in Littleton, Massachusetts, and she was grandmother of Isaac's wife, son of Cyrus. She died 1838. They had 5 ch.: Rebecca, married ----- Hoar of Littleton, Susan, Lydia.
iii. Isaiah Whitney, born 13 Dec 1764; married Dorcas Whitman.
iv. Amos Whitney, born 27 Dec 1768; married Rhoda Cutler.
v. Cyrus Whitney, born 17 Aug 1771; married Mary Whitney.
