William Henry8 Whitney (James B.7, Israel6, Daniel5, Daniel4, Benjamin3, John2, John1), son of James B.7 and Anne (Wilkins) Whitney, was born 31 May 1846, Marlborough, MA,[1] and died after 1900.

He married firstly, 12 Aug 1869, Hudson, MA, Mary Ellen Farnsworth, daughter of Luther Haskell and Almira P. (Rideout) Farnsworth.[2] She was born about 1853, Nashua, NH, and died 8 Oct 1890, Nashua, NH, aged 38 years, of cancer.[3]

He married secondly, between 1890 and 1900, Mary E. -----. She was born Jul 1850, ME, and died after 1900.

i. Nellie Idella9 Whitney, b. 13 Mar 1870, Hudson, MA.[4] "Mary E." in 1870 census; m. before 1896, William Pettingill.
ii. William Haskell Whitney, b. 14 Jul 1879, Westborough, MA;[5] d. Jul 1879, Westborough, MA, aged 1 month of an imperforate anus.[6]
iii. (daughter) Whitney, b. 28 Feb 1882, Grafton, MA;[7] d. 28 Feb 1882, Grafton, MA, aged 0 days, stillborn.[8]
iv. Ethel May Whitney, b. 10 May 1885, Grafton, MA.[9]
