He married, circa 1801, Cynthia Powers.
Children of Samuel and Cynthia (Powers) Whitney:
i. Joseph Whitney, b. ca. ii. Benjamin Whitney, b. ca. 1805. iii. Silas Whitney, b. ca. 1807.

- 1810, Seneca, Ontario Co., NY: Cyntha Whitney, 1 female 26-45, 3 males under 10.
Notes
A descendant of Samuel's son Benjamin was DNA tested and appears to be a descendant of the immigrant John Whitney. Also, differences in the DNA were seen which have so far only found in the descendants of Eleazer Whitney, suggesting that Samuel's ancestry should be searched for among his descendants. One possibility is that this Samuel was perhaps the Samuel, son of John and Mary (Benjamin) Whitney, grandson of Eleazer, though no proof has yet been found.
