Edmund6 Whitney (Isaac5, Isaac4, Nathaniel3, Benjamin2, John1), son of Isaac5 Whitney, was born 4 May 1774, Gorham, ME, and died 25 May 1853, Gorham, ME.
He married 28 Jan 1803, Gorham, ME, Martha 'Patty' Meserve 'of Scarboro'. She was born circa 1783, ME and died after 1850.
He resided Gorham, ME.
The History of Gorham, Maine says:
Edmund Whitney, son of Isaac, lived in the north part of the town. He married Martha Meserve of Scarborough. Children:
- Susan, b. Jan. 23, 1804, Lewis Higgins of Standish, Mar. 25, 1828; d. in Manchester, N. H., Mar. 9, 1879.
- Freeman, b. May 21, 1806, m. Lydia A. Meserve, 1834. One child: Anna Maria, b. Mar. 21, 1837, m. Daniel Johnson, Feb. 2, 1854. Freeman Whitney d. July 19, 1855, and his wife, Aug. 20, 1869.
- Levisa A., b. aug. 15, 1810, m. Jonathan S. Files, p. Feb. 15, 1835.
- Merrill, b. Feb. 25, 1816, m. Zebia A. Kollock. One son, Alonzo M., b. in Lowell, Mass., July 18, 1845, enlisted from Gorham in 1862, in 16th Me. Vols., and was killed at Fredericksburg, Va. Mr. Whitney d. in Saco, Jan. 24, 1888.
- Robie, b. Feb. 16, 1818, m. Mary J. Hall, Sept. 1, 1844. Ch: Eugene S., b. Feb. 2, 1852, m. Nellie Stearns of Amoskeag, N. H.; Adelaide J., b. Sept. 28, 1855, m. Albert Merrill of Manchester, N. H., Jan. 13, 1883; Frank L., b. Apr. 11, 1858, m. Cora Belle Whitney; Katie C., b. Feb. 17, 1867, d. Aug. 28, 1886. Mr. Whitney l'd in the north part of the town where his son Frank now l's. He d. at the house of his son in Manchester, N. H., Dec. 28, 1898; his wife d. Oct. 7, 1891.
- Marshall, b. July 11, 1821, m. Sarah Gorden of Wayne. Ch: Ladora E., b. Sept. 16, 1853, m. Frederick E. Smith of Attleborough, Mass., June 29, 1882; Alston V., b. Oct. 2, 1858; Mary J., b. Jan. 20, 1862. Marshall Whitney d. July 18, 1884; Mrs. Whitney l's with her son.
- Major M., b. Apr. 13, 1823, d. July 31, 1834.

Robie Whitney, b. 16 Feb 1818, ME, d. 28 Dec 1898, Manchester, NH, at the home of his son. He m. 1 Sep 1844, Lowell, MA, Mary Jane Hall, daughter of Solomon and Jane (Willoughby) Hall.[1] She d. 7 Oct 1891. He lived in the north part of the town where his son Frank later lived. - Ch: Eugene S., b. 2 Feb 1852, m. Nellie Stearns of Amoskeag, N. H.; Adelaide J., b. 28 Sep 1855, m. 13 Jan 1883, Albert Merrill of Manchester, NH; Frank L., b. 11 Apr 1858, m. Cora Belle Whitney; Katie C., b. 17 Feb 1867, d. 28 Aug 1886.
