Joshua Whitney, parentage conjectured (see Notes below), was born 10 Aug 1789, Amherst, MA, and died 13 Aug 1879, Franklin, NY, aged 91 years of facial cancer.[1]

He married, 1814, North Franklin, NY, Phebe Miller, daughter of Peleg and Phebe (Sherill) Miller. She was born 19 Aug 1793, Franklin, NY, and died 4 Dec 1875, Franklin, NY.

Children of Joshua and Phebe (Miller) Whitney:

i. Cornelia Whitney, b. 4 May 1815, Franklin, NY; d. Meridale, NJ; m. Dr. Emory Strickland.
ii. Calpurnia Whitney, b. 27 Apr 1819, Franklin, NY; m. 6 Dec 1837, Franklin, NY, Clark Chamberlain.

Notes

He is probably the same as Joshua6 Whitney, son of Joshua5 and Dorothy (Knowlton) Whitney. That man is of the right approximate age and birth state. Furthermore, a Family:Whitney, Joseph (1795-1871) appears in the 1820 census separated from Joshua by 10 families. This last is likely to be Joseph6, a brother.
