New York City, 22 Feb. 1825, Joanna Eliza Bicknell, who was born in Portsmouth, England, 20 Oct. 1809, and, when quite young, came to New York with her parents, Joseph and Margaret Bicknell. He settled in New York, residing there till about 1835, and then removed to 29 Strawberry Street, Philadelphia, Penn., where she died 6 May 1836. She was buried in Philadephia [sic]. He married (2nd), 26 March 1837, Ann Rebecca Bevan, a native of Philadelphia. He died, 27 Ap. 1841, in Philadelphia, and was buried there.

VI. Thomas Richard Whitney, b. in Norwalk, Conn., 30 Ap. 1807; author and engraver; married, 7 Oct. 1727 [sic, should be 1827], at Wilton, Conn., Elizabeth Comstock, who was born 6 Nov. 1808, and died in New York, City, 13 March 1840. He married (2nd), 22 June 1848, at New York, Sarah Ann Huestis, born at Westchester, N.Y., 8 May 1810, dau. of Edward Huestis, and widow of Richard Giffing. He was a Senator of New York in 1854 and 1855, from the Fourth District; and a Representative in the 34th Congress, from New York, 5th Congressional District, from 1855 to 1857. He devoted much of his life to literary pursuits, having been at one time editor of The Republic and The Sunday Times, and was the author of an historical poem, called "The Ambuscade" (New York, 1845), and of a political work entitled "Defence of the American Policy" (New York, 1856). He resided in New York city, and died there, 12 Ap. 1858, and was buried in Greenwood Cemetery. She was living in New York, in Oct. 1867.

I. Isaac Ebenezer Hoyt, b. in Wilton, Conn., 3 March 1802; successively a shoemaker, physician, merchant, and farmer; settled in Rochester, N. Y., in 1821; married, 21 Nov. 1824, at her father's house in Greece, N. Y., by Rev. Mr. Barnes, Presbyterian, to Abigail Sophia Adams, who was born in Manchester, Vt., 3 May 1802, dau. of Samuel and Catharine (Lawrence) Adams. They lived in Rochester until 1832, and then settled in Clarkson, N. Y., where they were living in Jan. 1875.
