David5 Whitney (David4, David3, Joshua2, John1), son of David4 and Mary (Gunn) Whitney,[1] was born 22 Nov 1762, New Haven, CT,[2] and died Nov 1837, Ulster County, NY.[3]
He married firstly, date and place unknown, ----- -----,[4] parentage unknown. She was born between 1755 and 1765,[5] and died after 1810, before 1829, probably in New Paltz, NY.[6]
He married secondly, 25 May 1829, New Paltz, NY, Mary Halstead,[7], parentage unknown. She was born 7 Jul 1776,[8] and died 25 Jan 1868.[9]
He is listed on the 1835 Pension Roll of New York:[10]

- "David, NY Line, Mary, W6489, BLW #12572-160-55, sol appl 11 Sep 1832 in Ulster Co NY aged 69 a res of New Paltz NY, sol was b 22 Nov 1762 at East Haven CT & he lived at New Paltz NY when he enl & had lived there since the Rev except for 8 yrs he lived at Geneva in Ontario Co NY, sol m Mary Halstead on the 25 May 1829 & sol d in Nov 1837 & his wid appl 27 Nov 1856 at Lloyd in Ulster Co NY aged 82 & she appl there for BLW on 10 Apr 1855 & a Lyman Halstead & John H. Drake were her witnesses in 1855."[11]

David5 and Mary (Halstead) Whitney apparently had no children.
